CANCELLATIONS

We will do our best to keep you up-to-date regarding venue cancellations. Please check the website calendar at the start of each month for planned cancellations. Last minute cancellations will be posted on this page, under Latest News on our website’s home page and on social media.

Weather-related cancellations:
Our number one priority is to provide a safe playing environment for our members. Inclement weather and poor air quality can create unsafe conditions for those playing outdoor pickleball. SSFA Pickleball will follow Canada’s Air Quality Health Index and cancel organized play based on those recommendations. Rain can cause wet, slippery courts that are also unsafe to play on. The SSFA Pickleball committee will do its best to provide adequate notice of play closure on its social media channels and this website. However, if you are wondering whether the Father Basil Markle courts will be open for SSFA sponsored play, please check here. Environment Canada has a red bar that indicates unsafe air quality levels (7 to 10+). If that bar is visible and a warning is in place, organized pickleball will be cancelled. If organized play is cancelled, the courts will still be open but the porta-potty and AED machine will not be available. You will also need to take your own balls as SSFA Pickleball will not be on site. Please play safely and take weather into account before making your plans.
